This position serves as the Girls Varsity Head Basketball Coach, overseeing all aspects of the program including player development, game strategies, team leadership, tryouts, practices, and games. The coach is expected to be knowledgeable about the game, including game management and rules, and to develop and execute an effective training program. A key aspect of the role is to motivate and mentor student-athletes, instructing them in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training to achieve individual and team success. The coach will also guide student-athletes in developing moral values, pride, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence, while fostering teamwork, discipline, respect, sportsmanship, and skills development. Ensuring the safety and well-being of student-athletes is paramount. The coach must cooperate with the School Athletic Director and District Athletic Department, meet all requirements mandated by the District Board of Education, OHSAA, and ODE, including Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit (PAP). Responsibilities also include checking academic eligibility, following District Athletic Department Policies, modeling expected behavior, maintaining suitable sideline conduct, accepting constructive criticism, and staying aware of all applicable administrative policies. The coach will provide in-season training rules and out-of-season conduct guidelines, follow due process for violations, participate in clinics to improve coaching performance, and assist in preparing the team for opponents. Maintaining an accurate inventory of equipment and supplies is also required.
