About The Position

This role is for a Girls Head Volleyball Coach and High School Teacher, responsible for providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in an assigned core academic subject area (Special Education or HS Math). The goal is to help students fulfill their potential intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially, enabling them to function successfully in society. The position also involves instructing and coaching students to develop skills and excel in assigned sport(s), contributing to the overall education program and the growth of student-athletes.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Current first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillator (AED) certificate
Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules
Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes
Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests and annual physical (if bus driving duties are required)
Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience

Nice To Haves

Clear and valid Texas commercial driver’s license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements (optional)
Second sport to be determined

Responsibilities

Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program.
Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.
Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology.
Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students.
Plan and assign work to instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.
Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
Be a positive role model for students; support the mission of the school district.
Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Direct the work of assigned instructional aide(s).
Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and ability to excel in assigned sport(s).
Contribute to education program as a whole and to growth of students involved in athletics.
