About The Position

The World Bank Group (WBG) is seeking individuals to join the Group Internal Audit (GIA) team. GIA's mission is to protect and enhance the value of the World Bank by providing independent, objective, and insightful risk-based assurance and advice. GIA ensures that processes for managing and controlling risks to achieve the World Bank's goals are adequately designed and functioning effectively. The GIA team is composed of highly skilled professionals with expertise in risk management, governance, internal control, and knowledge of the Bank Group. The Group Internal Audit Vice Presidency (GIAVP) is led by the Vice President (VP) and Auditor General (AG), supported by the Director, Strategy and Operations. GIA is structured into six teams: Professional Practices and Innovation (PPI), Development Operations (DO), Corporate Processes and Finance (CPF), Information Technology (IT), Country Assurance and Advisory Program and Ukraine Oversight (Regional Team), and Office of the Vice President (OVP). This specific position is for an Audit Analyst (Analytics) within the Professional Practices and Innovation (PPI) team, contributing to GIA engagements and strategic initiatives by utilizing advanced analytics and data visualization.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree and relevant professional credentials (e.g., Certified Internal Auditor; Certified Information Systems Auditor; Certified Risk Manager; Chartered Financial Analyst; Certified Forensic Accountant; Certified Public Accountant, etc.). Non-holders would be required to obtain, at a minimum, with GIA’s support, the Certified Internal Auditor Practitioner accreditation within 2 years of assuming the role.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in one or more areas relating to risk management, internal controls, compliance, governance, and/or talent management, preferably in Big 4 firms, financial institutions, international organizations, large non-profit organizations, multilateral organizations, or similar environments.
  • Ability to analyze data using leading technology (Power BI, Power Apps, machine learning, or similar advanced or innovative use cases).
  • An understanding of leading internal audit practices, including an in-depth understanding of risks and controls in the development sector environment.
  • Ability to build strong relationships, maximize partnering and stakeholder management, and work collaboratively with internal clients and teams.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Oral and written communications (in English); emphasis on precision, clarity, and diplomacy.
  • Constant focus on innovation, digital transformation, current on evolving standards, participation in industry groups, and outside the field of audit.
  • Maintaining a continuous improvement mindset, embracing agility, and openness to change.
  • Proactive and innovative, with an open and collegial work style, with an ability to listen and integrate ideas from diverse views, create partnerships, and collaborate with others.
  • Mastery of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Proven track record of executing assurance and advisory projects with a high sense of accountability and quality.

Nice To Haves

  • Institutional knowledge and experience working at the WBG or similar multilateral institutions are a plus.
  • A background in both the private and public sectors would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of World Bank operations, policies, instruments, and systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the planning, execution, reporting, and delivery of assurance and advisory engagements.
  • Participate in risk assessment and work program development.
  • Support key strategic initiatives within GIA.
  • Utilize advanced analytics and data visualization techniques.
  • Work in teams supporting "Auditor in Charge" engagements or a Senior Project Officer on initiatives or designated projects.
  • Multi-task and prioritize across multiple concurrent engagements.
  • Locate and transform data, and apply analytics techniques (BI, machine learning, LLMs, process mining or mapping, Databricks) to provide information and insights.
  • Support GIA’s program for up-skilling, reskilling, or adding new skills across GIA staff for data analytics.
  • Conduct and document process walkthroughs and propose opportunities to use technology and process techniques to enhance walkthrough steps or outputs.
  • Identify and document risks and key internal controls (automated and manual).
  • Develop, execute, and document audit plans and procedures.
  • Coordinate and conduct client interviews.
  • Summarize and communicate results, including advanced or innovative data visualization options.
  • Support dynamic risk assessment and work program development.
  • Support the team/supervisors in validating management’s actions.
  • Lead and participate in initiatives as assigned by the Supervisor, Manager, or Director.
