About The Position

The World Bank Group (WBG) offers a unique opportunity to help clients solve their greatest development challenges. The WBG is a global partnership of five institutions dedicated to ending poverty and is a major source of funding and knowledge for developing countries. The Group Internal Audit (GIA) team is seeking innovative, enthusiastic, and team-oriented individuals to support the WBG mission. GIA's mission is to protect and enhance the value of the World Bank by providing independent, objective, and insightful risk-based assurance and advice. GIA operates in accordance with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) International Professional Practice Framework and reports to the President under the oversight of the Audit Committee. GIA staff possess strong skills in risk management, governance, internal control, and business acumen, bringing technical expertise and a commitment to the Bank Group's mission. The GIA Vice Presidency (GIAVP) is led by the Vice President (VP) and Auditor General (AG), supported by the Director, Strategy and Operations. GIA is structured into six teams: Professional Practices and Innovation (PPI), Development Operations (DO), Corporate Processes and Finance (CPF), Information Technology (IT), Country Assurance and Advisory Program and Ukraine Oversight (Regional Team), and the Office of the Vice President (OVP). Teams 1-5 are led by Managers reporting to the Director, responsible for the GIA work program, while Team 6 is led by a Manager reporting to the OVP/AG.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree, a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in one or more areas: Engaging stakeholders with assurance and advisory opportunities to innovate and scale digital services or products in financial institutions, international organizations, large non-profit organizations, multilateral companies, or similar environments.
  • Hands-on design and deployment of Cloud platforms or services, developing software applications, automation, and digital services.
  • Hands-on co-creation and coaching of assurance and advisory audit teams to make the best use of platforms or services to deliver GIA’s work program.
  • Demonstrate at least intermediate-level competency, including skills in data, people, process, and technology that deliver a business objective.
  • Proven abilities to successfully work on multiple and complex engagements with a variety of stakeholders, to anticipate and adjust for problems and roadblocks, and deliver high-quality work within target and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to create quality technical documentation or quality control evidence for continuous integration, continuous deployment, or DevOps.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Oral and written communications (in English); emphasis on precision, clarity, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to build strong relationships, maximize partnering and stakeholder management, and work collaboratively with internal clients and teams.
  • Maintaining a continuous improvement mindset, embracing agility, and openness to change.

  • Mastery of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, Power BI, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Agile, Product Management, Design Thinking, or demonstrated experience with Microsoft, Google, or Amazon services or products (e.g., example projects or certification relevant for the position).
  • Awareness of leading internal audit practices in the development sector.

Responsibilities

  • Apply leading technology and management practices for assurance use cases.
  • Engage with colleagues on key strategic initiatives within GIA.
  • Partner closely with internal audit teams and stakeholders to understand audit objectives, processes, and pain points.
  • Act as a bridge between assurance teams and technology, communicating effectively in both languages.
  • Perform structured discovery and gap analysis with assurance and risk experts to translate complex governance, risk, and control needs into clear technical requirements.
  • Define criteria and design solution approaches to address identified engagement challenges, such as automating testing procedures or risk analytics.
  • Design, build, and deploy software and data solutions to modernize assurance processes, including data pipelines, data repositories, analytics tools, and automation workflows.
  • Develop full-stack applications and integrations to enhance engagement planning, fieldwork, reporting, and issue follow-up.
  • Rapidly prototype new audit tech solutions to validate concepts, then refine and scale successful prototypes into enterprise-ready products.
  • Embrace an agile, iterative development approach for quick value delivery while ensuring robust architecture, documentation, and maintainability.
  • Identify and integrate advanced analytics, machine learning, or AI capabilities to enhance assurance impact and risk insights.
  • Stay at the forefront of technology trends, prototyping, and the responsible deployment of innovative opportunities.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to World Bank Group’s data governance, security, and compliance policies.
  • Maintain strong awareness of data-related risks and incorporate quality controls for data accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.
  • Work as a core member of an agile, cross-functional exploration and scaling team.
  • Coordinate with audit managers, data scientists, IT teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate collaboration and knowledge activation.
  • Coordinate technical changes with business users.
  • Support the adoption of new tools across the audit department.
