About The Position

CD PROJEKT RED is seeking an experienced Principal Research Manager with excellent problem-solving skills to join their AI R&D team. This role will help lead the development and delivery of solutions that will shape the next generation of immersive gaming experiences and tools. The Principal Research Manager will manage multidisciplinary projects to enhance user experience, game development pipelines, and the creative capabilities of their teams.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of software project management experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Full cycle of an AI product, AI research project, or video game development. Ideally, all three.
  • Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary teams, preferably in an Agile environment, with an emphasis on team empowerment and self-organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence, demonstrable in every interaction.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and rally multiple teams towards a common goal.
  • Highly motivated, self-driven, and able to proactively solve problems with minimal supervision.
  • Seeks guidance as needed.
  • Accountable for results, whatever they may be.
  • Intellectual curiosity.
  • Humility and curiosity, constantly seeking learning opportunities, without limiting oneself to the constraints of their role or the company.
  • Experience with industry project management tools (e.g., Hansoft, Jira, Confluence, Office suite).

  • Good command of the Atlassian suite (Jira and Confluence).
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Director of AI to drive major new initiatives within the AI R&D team.
  • Serve as a bridge between East Coast and European time zones for both AI teams and projects.
  • Align and motivate the team around clearly defined goals.
  • Build and maintain cohesive, high-performing teams that are capable of self-organization and delivering exceptional results.
  • Unblock others by identifying and resolving bottlenecks and queues, fostering incremental deliveries.
  • Manage AI initiatives, balancing resources, ambition, and time constraints.
  • Identify risks and establish mitigation plans.
  • Continuously seek to improve production processes (project planning, scoping, scheduling, roadmapping, requirements gathering, etc.).
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key external partners.
  • Advocate for concrete and beneficial improvements, challenging the status quo with boldness and innovation.
  • Gather, consider, and respond to internal feedback, adjusting processes and approaches as needed.
