About The Position

The German Language Tutor provides one-on-one, 30-minute tutoring sessions outside of class to students currently enrolled at The New School University. Tutors explain course content, including grammar and pronunciation, review and guide students through homework, and assist with presentations, written and oral assignments, mini-projects, and exam preparation. They also facilitate interactive speaking and listening exercises and help students build practical conversation skills. Tutors complete administrative, pedagogical, and technological training; promote tutoring services through brief class visits; and participate in cultural class events when available. They set up office hours in the university’s scheduling systems, manage appointments and cancellations, track tutoring sessions, and submit timesheets. Tutoring is offered at the university, with the role described as primarily remote and requiring occasional on-campus presence with advance notice. The position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between SENS-UAW, Local 7902, and the University.
