About The Position

THD Design Group is a comprehensive Surveying and Engineering Services company with over 30 years of experience, providing Engineering Design, Land Surveying, Geotechnical Engineering, and Construction Management for both public and private sectors. The team utilizes expertise and state-of-the-art technology to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and quality assurance from preliminary design to final construction stages. This role requires the candidate to be local to the St. Louis, MO area and able to commute to the office, as the position is not remote. THD Design Group is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer with leadership qualities and a strong work ethic to perform essential duties and responsibilities, with accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geological/Civil Engineering or related field
  • Strong problem solving and resolution skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to communicate via email and verbally

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) preferred.
  • Open to all experience levels including Professional Engineer (PE)

Responsibilities

  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team environment to provide engineering and consulting support for THD's projects and clients.
  • Work closely with senior-level project managers and professional engineers to gain project management and engineering experience.
  • Communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams.
  • Assist in developing the scope of services, cost estimates, and proposals for a variety of projects including residential, commercial, transportation, and infrastructure.
  • Perform geotechnical field work including field reconnaissance, preparation of field boring logs, obtaining soil samples, construction observation, and material testing services.
  • Participate in geotechnical laboratory testing, engineering analysis, and development of engineering recommendations.
  • Prepare reports, plans, and specifications based on engineering analysis.
  • Attend meetings with clients as a representative of THD.
  • Project management activities to track and evaluate project scope, schedules, and budgets.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects.
  • Participate in pre-task planning.
  • Report any safety issues or concerns to management and maintain quality standards on all projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.
