The CEI Department Leader will lead the development and execution of Gresham Smith’s CEI services business plans for growth, recruiting, staff development, profitability, and project performance. This role will drive transportation strategic planning to identify market capabilities, investment needs, pursuit strategies, and teaming opportunities. The focus will be primarily on Georgia, while supporting transportation efforts across a broader geography. The position reports to the Georgia State Transportation Leader and involves coordination with state management, technical service leads, market leadership, other state leaders, and Georgia departments. Key responsibilities include leading business opportunities with existing and prospective clients, building and maintaining client relationships, implementing and executing the CEI business plan, and leading business development efforts including proposal content coordination and travel. The role also involves recruiting, mentoring, and developing talent, providing strong project management leadership for timely, on-budget, and quality project delivery, overseeing daily operations, and balancing workload distribution. Collaboration with state transportation leaders, agencies, and stakeholders is essential, as is monitoring industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions. The leader will represent the company at industry events, client meetings, and internal forums, and serve as an advisor on public and private projects regionally.
