About The Position

The Geometry Manager leads and continuously improves all geometry assurance activities across the plant, including product measurement, CMM operations, and assembly fixture verification. This role drives robust process capability, focused on controlled product geometry. Full compliance with customer and Volvo Cars’ quality requirements across both new launches and ongoing production. The position also ensures that lessons learned from production areas are systematically captured and integrated into future industrialization efforts.

Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Extensive experience in operational geometry assurance within automotive production or product development.
  • Strong leadership capability with proven experience leading and developing people, methods, and technical competencies.
  • Deep knowledge of body, exterior, fixtures, and assembly processes.
  • Experience with multiple types of measuring equipment, including CMM systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage Geometry Assurance function, driving process capability and ensuring consistent performance of geometry systems across pre-series and production.
  • Ensure controlled product geometry output through capable inline and offline measurements, including CMM programs, with minimal production impact.
  • Lead follow-up and corrective actions for geometry alarms from inline measurement stations and CMM systems.
  • Approve and validate process capability for new models, engineering changes, and ongoing production processes.
  • Develop and manage CMM team responsible for high-efficiency, high-accuracy product measurement according to control plan.
  • Develop and manage equipment verification team, responsible for fixture measurements, shimming activities, and process follow-up.
  • Lead equipment verification activities during both project and running phases, ensuring compliance with geometry standards and methods.
  • Support development and implementation of measuring techniques, methods, and technical specifications.
  • Lead, coach, and develop geometry teams through continuous improvement, lessons learned, and standardized methods.
  • Organize and lead cross-functional reviews and regular meetings related to geometry performance, fixtures, and product quality.
  • Drive continuous cost, efficiency, and performance improvements within Geometry.
  • Provide geometry expertise to production, projects, operating committees, and the Volvo Cars global supplier base.
  • Own and ensure achievement of final demands quality targets across the full vehicle lifecycle.
  • Lead root cause analysis, containment, and permanent fixes for geometry related issues using structured problem-solving methods (e.g. DMAIC).
  • Ensure geometry assurance systems and processes within Body, Paint, and Final Assembly comply with Volvo Cars’ business and quality objectives.
