About The Position

AECOM is hiring an entry-level Geologist to support its Environmental Business Line, primarily on Federal projects, from its Westlake Village, California office. The position is expected to begin as soon as possible and works under the supervision of a Project Manager or senior-level team member. The anticipated division of work is approximately 50% field work and 50% office work. Travel is required, potentially including out-of-state assignments lasting weeks to months. The Geologist will use standard field practices and basic field equipment to collect soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment samples; prepare samples for shipment; and complete chain-of-custody paperwork. The role also performs supervised field activities such as soil logging, monitoring well installation, slug testing, and water-level or groundwater-gradient surveys. The employee gathers and interprets environmental data, organizes information collected by others, prepares basic scientific documents, and applies natural science knowledge to explain observations. The position assists senior team members with planning and coordinating field programs. The successful candidate will work independently and collaboratively, communicate effectively and promptly—particularly during field work—and demonstrate flexibility, a positive attitude, and commitment to workplace health and safety. The position offers opportunities to develop leadership and management skills. Relocation assistance is not available. AECOM requires newly hired employees to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office.
