About The Position

This role involves supporting geological mapping, interpretation, and data acquisition for project sites. The Geologist-in-Training II will also assist with core processing tasks, including geotechnical and geological logging, sampling, and photography. Additionally, the position requires supervision of drilling activities, drill site setup, progress tracking, and ensuring adherence to safety standards. The role may also involve updating project budgets, overseeing geology interns and field support staff, and potentially managing small-scale field programs.

Requirements

  • Must live in the province of Saskatchewan
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or satisfying the Geoscientists Canada’s Knowledge and Experience guide.
  • Minimum 2 years prior experience in mineral exploration or related field.
  • Registered as a Geologist-in-Training with APEGS, APEGA, OGQ or other provincial legislative body.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR level C certified.
  • Able to take on projects independently and confidently in the office (when applicable) and in the field.
  • Be able to contribute ideas and participate in larger projects.
  • Provide a good understanding about industry standards.
  • Familiarity and application of the Dahrouge Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Plan and the Professional Practice Management Plan (must be reviewed and signed during orientation).

Responsibilities

  • Understand and mitigate safety concerns in the field.
  • Provide input into daily tailgate meetings to enhance safety protocols.
  • Complete safety documentation including job safety analyses, risk assessments, and equipment and workplace inspections.
  • Assist with project preparation and logistics.
  • Conduct geochemical and (rarely) geophysical surveys and prospecting activities.
  • Support core processing tasks such as geotechnical logging, geological logging, sampling, core photography, specific gravity measurements, and sample shipping in collaboration with Geotechnicians and Project Managers on-site.
  • Support geological mapping and interpretation, contributing to the overall understanding of project sites.
  • Assist with data acquisition, data compilation and report writing.
  • Ensure the quality of data captured during programs meets company standards.
  • Supervise drilling activities, including drill site setup, progress tracking, and ensuring adherence to safety standards.
  • Assist with updating project budgets and drill tracking.
  • Oversee geology interns and field support staff, ensuring their effective contribution to project objectives.
  • Undertake supportive roles in managing projects with potential to manage small scale field programs.
