Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Geology, Geosciences, or Environmental Science
  • 1–3 years of related work experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Current valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to multi-task and efficiently manage their time
  • Candidates must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions and for extended periods
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands associated with fieldwork, including lifting equipment up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, and working alone at remote sites

Nice To Haves

  • Current OSHA HAZWOPER 40 HR/8 HR training
  • Previous industry, consulting, or regulatory internship experience
  • 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response training

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of drilling operations—including installing monitoring wells and describing soil or rock
  • Collecting soil, groundwater, and vapor samples in compliance with State and Federal standards
  • Implementing injection or other in-situ remedial technologies
  • Overseeing remedial system installations and subcontractors
  • Extensive note-taking
  • Effective coordination and communication with project team members
  • Providing incident response support for environmental sample planning and collection
  • Rail client and regulator correspondence and onsite contractor oversight for train derailments or HAZMAT spills, which may require travel throughout the southeast
  • Data management—compiling, manipulating, and evaluating data
  • Assisting with the writing and preparation of technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda
  • Preparing cost estimates and proposals
  • Coordinating work schedules with subcontractors
  • Producing figures, maps, and boring logs
