About The Position

Parsons is looking for an Environmental Scientist or Geologist to join their team. In this role, you will perform a variety of routine and nonroutine tasks in support of the professional staff within the environmental group. Work assignments may be in the office and/or at field sites. A willingness to travel is expected. This position is part of the Critical Infrastructure team, which focuses on designing and delivering critical infrastructure that connects and protects communities worldwide. The team works in collaborative groups to plan, design, build, and modernize infrastructure, with a focus on projects that improve communities, enhance quality of life, promote economic growth, increase mobility, and boost sustainability and resiliency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a science curriculum related to the assigned discipline
  • 3+ years of related work experience
  • Ability to work at high elevations
  • Ability to lift and carry 30+ pounds
  • Ability to pull, stand, and work in confined spaces
  • Ability to crouch for long periods of time
  • Ability to work under inclement cold weather conditions
  • Knowledge of methods and precautions in storing and handling chemicals
  • Ability to work with others in a professional team environment, as well as independently when required

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field investigation activities and maintain documentation in record logs.
  • Independently perform routine environmental media sampling including soil, soil gas, groundwater, surface water, and sediment sampling.
  • Provide oversight for drilling, including installation of soil borings and monitoring wells, monitoring well development, and monitoring well slug testing.
  • Perform soil and rock borehole logging.
  • Provide oversight for excavations and coordinate with contractors at retail and commercial bulk petroleum facilities.
  • Support operations, maintenance, and monitoring of remediation systems, including fluid monitoring and sampling, and oil mobility and recoverability evaluation.
  • Assist in data compilation and interpretation pertinent to remediation system operations and performance.
  • Use environmental sampling equipment and monitoring devices.
  • Schedule and coordinate subcontractor activities as needed.
  • Responsible for the application of and conformance with company and client health and safety programs while performing or overseeing tasks.
  • Assist in the preparation of project planning and task documentation, including safety assessments, scope of work documents, field task summary documents, and file management.
