About The Position

Parsons is looking for a talented Environmental Geologist/Scientist to join our team! You will independently perform a wide variety of geological and field tasks. You will need to be proficient in soil classification and the use of most geologic theories and practices. Some assignments involve the use of computer software applications, as well as computer modeling of groundwater flow patterns. You will partner with other geologists to manage projects and tasks to include conducting field surveys. Travel to field sites is expected.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of computer software applications, typically used in geological analyses
  • Working knowledge of computer modeling to include mapping groundwater flow patterns
  • Effective problem solving and analytical skills
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and make recommendations
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform work duties independently and in team environments
  • Ability to monitor and guide the work of others
  • Familiarity of related environmental rules and regulations
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Environmental Science or related field
  • 3+ years of related work experience

Responsibilities

  • Performs various field and office tasks requiring the application of standard geological principles and theories.
  • Applies available data pertinent to geology and/or hydrogeology, accurately describing and classifying various types of soil and rock samples.
  • Collects soil, surface water, groundwater, sediment, and other environmental samples; conducts and analyzes data.
  • Supports and provides technical guidance for stratigraphic and groundwater drilling programs.
  • Assists in the development of geological mapping.
  • Analyzes and interprets geological data, which may include hydrogeology and/or hydrogeochemistry.
  • Analyzes and interprets environmental sample analysis results within the context of the geological setting.
  • Prepares geologic maps and cross sections, which may include potentiometric surface maps and hydrographs.
  • Assists in geologic report preparation; develops materials and assists in completing reports on finished field work.
  • May provide technical guidance to lower-level geologists.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
