About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Scientist or Geologist to join their team in the New Jersey and Tristate area. This role involves both field and office work, with a significant portion of time expected to be spent in the field (50-90%). The position offers opportunities for mentorship and professional growth within the Resilience Environment team, contributing to sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions. The candidate will assist Project Managers and Task Managers with environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks. Fieldwork will include training on overseeing drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, subcontractor oversight, operation and maintenance of remediation systems, and vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys, all while prioritizing health and safety.

Requirements

  • BA or BS in Environmental Science, Geology or related field
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated

  • Able to work effectively and efficiently in a team setting as well as independently and remotely
  • Adaptable and creative problem solvers
  • Good driving record
  • Willing to work outside in all weather conditions and for extended periods
  • Able to meet the physical demands associated with performing field work, including lifting heavy equipment, working in a standing position for extended periods of time, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Current OSHA HAZWOPER 40 HR / 8 HR training
  • Previous industry, consulting, or regulatory internship experience
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in the field

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers (PMs) and Task Managers (TMs) in planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks.
  • Oversee drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation.
  • Conduct groundwater sampling.
  • Provide subcontractor oversight.
  • Operate and maintain remediation systems.
  • Perform vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys.
  • Prepare subcontracts and oversee the work of subcontractors.
  • Write and prepare technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda.
  • Coordinate tasks, compile and interpret data, prepare cost estimates, and develop health and safety plans.
  • Conduct regulatory file reviews, proposal writing, project strategy development, and schedule and budget management.
  • Establish subcontracts.
  • Conduct field work including soil, groundwater, and/or vapor sampling.
  • Prepare for and conduct fieldwork with a focus on health and safety.
