About The Position

Apex Companies is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Geologist to support environmental consulting and engineering projects. The role involves environmental due diligence and property condition evaluations, site characterization and remediation, groundwater exploration and aquifer studies, field sampling, data management and evaluation, and report preparation. The position also includes overseeing drilling subcontractors and well construction, maintaining and calibrating field equipment, and occasional emergency response work involving petroleum or other releases in the Southeast. The successful candidate will work outdoors in varied conditions, travel for project support, and contribute to Apex’s safety culture while following health and safety guidelines.

Requirements

• 0–1 years of experience in environmental science or a similar field.
• Bachelor of Science in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn technical software.
• Valid driver’s license and a strong safety record.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Positive and proactive attitude, with willingness to learn and support a variety of projects.
• Willingness and ability to work outdoors in varied conditions and perform field work in the Carolinas and the Southeast.
• Ability to lift and transport equipment and travel up to 75% for project support.
• Sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

• OSHA 40-Hour training and 8-hour refreshers.
• Experience with or exposure to field sampling activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform site assessments and prepare reports for environmental due diligence and property condition evaluation programs.
• Support site characterization, remediation, groundwater exploration, and aquifer studies.
• Oversee drilling subcontractors and well construction.
• Collect soil, water, air, and other environmental samples according to established protocols.
• Maintain and calibrate sampling and monitoring equipment.
• Record and manage field data, notes, and photo logs.
• Evaluate data and prepare tables, figures, and time-series graphs.
• Assist with environmental report preparation.
• Participate in occasional emergency response efforts related to petroleum or other releases in the Southeast.
• Learn and contribute to Apex’s safety culture, adhere to health and safety guidelines, and promptly report safety concerns.
