Arcadis is seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Scientist or Geologist to join our team in the New Jersey and Tristate area. This position involves both field and office work, with an expectation of spending 50% to 90% of the time in the field. Requirements

BA or BS in Environmental Science, Geology or related field
Strong written and oral communication skills
Self-motivated
Independent thinking
Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team setting as well as independently and remotely
Adaptable, creative problem solvers
Good driving record
Willing to work outside in all weather conditions and for extended periods
Ability to meet the physical demands associated with performing field work, including lifting heavy equipment, working in a standing position for extended periods of time
Minimum of 1 year experience in the field is required

Current OSHA HAZWOPER 40 HR / 8 HR training
Previous industry, consulting, or regulatory internship experience

Responsibilities

Assisting Project Managers (PMs) and Task Managers (TMs) in planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks.
Overseeing drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation.
Conducting groundwater sampling.
Subcontractor oversight.
Operation and maintenance of remediation systems.
Performing vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys.
Conducting fieldwork with a focus on health and safety.
Preparing subcontracts and overseeing the work of subcontractors.
Writing and preparing technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda.
Task coordination, data compilation and interpretation, cost estimates, health & safety plan preparation, report writing, regulatory file reviews, proposal writing, project strategy development, schedule and budget management, and establishment of subcontracts.
Conducting field work including soil, groundwater, and/or vapor sampling in the field.
Regional business travel for up to 1-2 days per week on average.
Occasional travel within the U.S. for up to two weeks at a time.
