About The Position

Under the limited supervision of a Geologist 3 or other supervisory official in a State department or agency, takes the lead and/or conducts complex field and office work pertaining to sub-surface investigations, soil compaction, mineral resources, and other related geological work; compiles and analyzes complex geological data; does other related duties as required. The proposed hourly employee would work under the supervision of a Geologist 3 or higher-level title and would be responsible for reviewing and processing CEA proposals.

Requirements

  • Six (6) years of professional experience in geology, geophysics, and/or hydrogeology.
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in geology, or a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by thirty (30) semester-hour credits in geological subjects; and two (2) years of the above-mentioned professional experience.
  • Possession of a master's degree in geology from an accredited college or university; and one (1) year of the above-mentioned professional experience.
  • Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.
  • Professional experience refers to work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the profession's principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the authority to act according to one's own judgment and make accurate and informed decisions.
  • All U.S. degrees and transcripts must be from an accredited college or university. All foreign degrees and transcripts must be evaluated for accreditation by a recognized evaluation service by the closing date of this posting.
  • Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
