About The Position

Under the close supervision of a Geologist 3 or other supervisory official in a State department or agency, conducts field and office work pertaining to sub-surface investigations, soil compaction, mineral resources, and other related geological work; compiles and analyzes geological data; does other related duties as required. The responsibilities will include the review and processing of Classification Exception Area/Well Restriction Area (CEA/WRA) proposals and to provide ground water technical support to CSRR's permitting program. The position also includes the issuance of the Discharge to Ground Water approvals in association with Remedial Action Permits.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of professional experience in geology, geophysics, and/or hydrogeology.
  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in geology, or a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by thirty (30) semester-hour credits in geological subjects; and one (1) year of the above-mentioned professional experience.
  • Possession of a Master's degree in geology from an accredited college or university.
  • All U.S. degrees and transcripts must be from an accredited college or university. All foreign degrees and transcripts must be evaluated for accreditation by a recognized evaluation service by the closing date of this posting.
  • Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional experience in geology, geophysics, and/or hydrogeology.
  • Thirty (30) semester-hour credits in geological subjects.
  • Experience with Licensed Site Remediation Professional cases.

Responsibilities

  • Review and process Classification Exception Area/Well Restriction Area (CEA/WRA) proposals.
  • Provide ground water technical support to CSRR's permitting program.
  • Issue Discharge to Ground Water approvals in association with Remedial Action Permits.
  • Review workplans, reports, correspondence, proposals, & studies which pertain to geology and hydrogeology, site remediation, well injection & other areas.
  • Ensure scientific accuracy and compliance with Contaminated Site Remediation and Redevelopment regulations, policies and procedures for Licensed Site Remediation Professional cases.
  • Advise and make recommendations on technical & policy matters on permit activities.
