About The Position

The Department of Environmental Quality/Office of Environmental Assessment has a vacancy. The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality’s (LDEQ) mission is to provide service to the people of Louisiana through comprehensive environmental protection in order to promote and protect health, safety, and welfare. As a Geologist in the UST Corrective Action Group 2, you won’t just study environmental issues—you’ll lead the charge in investigating and restoring sites affected by underground storage tank releases.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a geoscience field or geological engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Review the site investigation report once a release has been confirmed.
  • Review RECAP Evaluation Reports and determine if calculated Limiting Risk Standards are correct.
  • Review aquifer test data to determine the appropriate groundwater classification.
  • Review and comment on Corrective Action Plans to address contaminated media above RECAP standards.
  • Conduct site visits to oversee investigations and installation and implementation of approved remedial technologies.
  • Participate in the ROG group to evaluate appropriate corrective action technologies and cost estimates.
