About The Position

The St. Louis County Office of the Assessor is seeking a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Manager to establish standards and manage the performance and ongoing effectiveness of the County’s Enterprise GIS. The typical starting salary range will be $81,848 - $98,217 annually depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience as well as budgetary considerations. Requirements

  • Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Computer Science, Urban Planning or related area
  • Ten years of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze project needs and participate in meetings with Department management to fully understand the technical challenges, and opportunities for enhancement.
  • Ensure the stability and availability of GIS resources by working closely with vendors and County IT staff who manage enterprise GIS resources, servers, and network.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to integrate GIS with enterprise systems and emerging technologies.
  • Coordinate GIS-related projects from concept to completion, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Analyze Assessor’s Office needs to understand licensing and application needs.
  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and security of spatial and attribute data through regular audits and updates.
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate GIS analysts, technicians, and support staff to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Recruit, hire, and provide performance reviews and disciplinary action for GIS staff.
  • Research and recommend new GIS tools, software, and methodologies to improve efficiency and capabilities.
  • Develop and deliver GIS training programs for staff and end-users.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
