The Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute at Hartford Hospital is seeking a per diem Genetic Counselor. This role involves joining an active and growing team of licensed and certified genetic counselors within an established, system-wide cancer risk assessment program. The Genetic Counselor will primarily split time between Hartford Hospital and St. Vincent's Medical Center, directly supporting a high-risk pancreatic cancer surveillance program. Responsibilities include counseling patients at increased risk for cancer based on personal and/or family history, performing risk assessments, coordinating germline genetic testing, and disclosing results. Additionally, the role involves performing administrative duties related to the high-risk pancreatic cancer surveillance program, participating in local and system-wide tumor boards and case conferences, and potentially attending multidisciplinary clinics and Disease Management Team meetings. Some travel to satellite clinics is required. Opportunities for participation in team research projects, including grant writing, and providing educational lectures to healthcare professionals and the public are also available.
