About The Position

Genesis Counselors are responsible for a caseload of up to 22 individuals in a 9-month, all-male, residential program. They will take a person-centered and trauma-informed care approach in meeting with clients to discuss their goals for when they are in program and post-program graduation, and then plan a course of action. To ensure continuous enrollment in our program, the employee will perform outreach to guests in our emergency shelter. Genesis Counselors may perform inspections of sleeping areas and monitor residential living, perform monitored urinalysis drug testing, and address client substance abuse, conflicts, and altercations. These positions are required to enter shower areas, bathrooms, resident rooms, or other areas that are personal in nature to conduct inspections, drug testing, and address concerns or any behavior issues. This can result in exposure to men in various states of dress. Candidates should be in agreement with our statement of faith.

Requirements

  • Valid NYS driver's license
  • Acceptable driving record
  • 4 year degree and limited experience (starting rate $40,000 per year)
  • Associate's degree or diploma/GED if they can demonstrate the equivalent knowledge through their professional experience and/or certifications
  • Demonstrate experience managing a case load specific to substance abuse recovery and mental health complexities (max of $46,000 per year)
  • Must be in agreement with our statement of faith
  • Required to provide employer name, employment dates, and contact information for all roles held within the past 5 years for a mandatory 5-year Employment Verification Process.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with intake and assessments
