Generator Engineer III, Field Services

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.•Orlando, FL

About The Position

The Generator Engineer III, Field Outage Services, is a senior technical role providing advanced engineering leadership for scheduled and emergent maintenance of turbine generators and associated auxiliary equipment. The role leads complex troubleshooting, inspection, testing, repair, and risk-management activities; develops technical solutions for high-impact generator conditions; and serves as a primary customer-facing and internal technical authority. It also advances organizational capability through mentoring, procedure development, lessons learned, and cross-functional collaboration. Frequent travel is required, typically 70% or more, including domestic and international travel. The role supports 24/7 service operations, schedule changes, and emergent assignments. The position requires a bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline and typically ten or more years of directly related generator engineering, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, or field service experience. An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be considered. The successful candidate brings advanced experience with large air-cooled and hydrogen-cooled generators, generator stators and rotors, electrical testing, repair methods, and failure analysis, as well as detailed knowledge of voltage regulator and excitation systems and generator auxiliary interfaces. The role requires the ability to resolve complex technical issues, make risk-informed recommendations, lead execution in high-pressure field environments, interpret technical drawings and engineering data, and communicate technical direction effectively. The engineer leads multidisciplinary personnel, influences customers and stakeholders, mentors developing engineers, and uses Microsoft 365, technical databases, project controls tools, and relevant engineering or test software. Employees must follow company and customer safety requirements, use PPE, and uphold high Environmental, Health, and Safety standards. Regular standing, walking, and bending, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds are required; hearing protection may be required in some areas. Reasonable accommodations will be made as needed.
