Seeking interns to support planning of new construction projects for electrical generating assets in Xcel Energy service territories. Requirements

  • Current student, Sophomore or higher (as of Fall 2027)
  • Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in any Engineering or Technical field
  • Minor travel opportunities to other Xcel Energy sites and existing generating facilities.
  • Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

  • Interest in project management processes and techniques.
  • Interest in emerging energy technologies and new advances in electrical generation and storage.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in siting of new generation locations.
  • Support equipment analysis and selection.
  • Perform financial estimating and cost analysis.
  • Develop risk management strategies.
  • Support regulatory filings and submittals.
  • Help develop new processes and tools for project management.
