About The Position

Xcel Energy is seeking interns to support the planning of new construction projects for electrical generating assets within its service territories. Interns will work with the Generation Development Team to define the future of power generation at Xcel Energy. Requirements

  • Current student, Sophomore or higher (as of Fall 2027)
  • Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in any Engineering or Technical field
  • Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

  • Interest in project management processes and techniques.
  • Interest in emerging energy technologies and new advances in electrical generation and storage.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in siting of new generation locations.
  • Support equipment analysis and selection.
  • Perform financial estimating and cost analysis.
  • Develop risk management strategies.
  • Support regulatory filings and submittments.
  • Help develop new processes and tools for project management.
