The Crew Leader (Structural Shop) is a senior-level professional responsible for complex, non-routine work requiring advanced knowledge and judgment. This position serves as a subject-matter resource, leads initiatives, and provides guidance to staff and leadership. The Crew Leader (Structural Shop) performs advanced welding, structural, and concrete maintenance, repair, and fabrication across District facilities while serving as a senior technical lead for structural shop operations. The role requires mastery of welding and strong knowledge of structural and concrete systems to lead complex projects and ensure work is completed safely and in compliance with applicable standards. Responsibilities include planning and prioritizing work orders, preparing material lists and project estimates, interpreting blueprints and technical drawings, coordinating multiple trades, and inspecting work for quality and safety. The Crew Leader also mentors staff, provides technical guidance, and collaborates with other Facilities teams to support District operations. This position involves physically demanding work, operation of specialized tools and equipment, and participation in emergency and after-hours response to maintain safe and functional District facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree OR 5+ years equivalent experience, which may be substituted for degree
  • Valid driver’s license and valid CDL License (Class A)

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex projects, initiatives, or cross-functional workstreams
  • Serve as a subject-matter resource on policies, procedures, and operational practices
  • Resolve non-routine and high-impact issues and recommend solutions
  • Develop, refine, and document processes and workflows
  • Analyze data and provide insights to support leadership decision-making
  • Provide training, coaching, and quality assurance for lower-level staff
  • Support audits, reviews, and continuous improvement efforts
