About The Position

The General Warehouse Worker is responsible for expedient and accurate handling of merchandise into and/or out of a perishable distribution center. The role primarily works within an assigned area of warehouse operations and supports all areas of the warehouse as needed. Duties include moving, checking, sorting, labeling, palletizing, replenishing, selecting, and loading merchandise, while meeting safety, productivity, and quality standards. The position may involve continuous work for up to 12 hours and exposure to extreme heat and cold, dust, and noise.

Requirements

Communication skills sufficient to communicate with co-workers, understand and provide directions, respond to management inquiries, and enter information on reports and records.
Basic knowledge of simple math concepts.
Ability to use a Radio Frequency Unit.
Ability to learn basic use and operation of motorized merchandise movement equipment.
Ability to maintain annual certification requirements.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience working in an automated distribution center preferred.
Experience with warehouse management systems applications preferred.

Responsibilities

Move incoming or outgoing merchandise throughout the distribution center by hand, hand truck, or forklift equipment.
Check, verify, and audit merchandise to confirm ordered items were received and are as ordered, undamaged, and not defective; enter data into a remote data terminal.
Identify, separate, label, and palletize merchandise onto flats.
Replenish pick areas based on replenishment reports and requests for merchandise.
Fill store merchandise orders by selecting and moving merchandise from pick slots to a conveyor.
Load outgoing merchandise from a conveyor and/or four-wheel truck into trailers.
Report damages and vendor compliance issues to a supervisor.
Partner with a supervisor to resolve problems or discrepancies.
Meet safety, productivity, and quality standards.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
