About The Position

The Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane, WA, is seeking a General Surgeon to provide direct patient care and surgical services to veterans. This role involves approximately 95% direct patient care, including pre-operative and post-operative evaluations, and performing general surgical procedures. The surgeon will participate in morbidity and mortality conferences and provide consultative services in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Procedures are to be scheduled within 30 days of consultation. Documentation, including pre-operative notes and operative reports, must adhere to timeliness requirements. The facility does not require specialty cases such as GI scopes, vascular, bariatric, colon/rectal, C-sections, trauma, or breast surgeries. The average patient volume in the clinic is 7-10 cases per day, with 2-5 surgeries performed weekly. The call ratio is every 3rd day, with callbacks primarily for emergencies and a low expectation for them. A DaVinci robot is available at the facility. The work schedule is a 40-hour work week with on-call duties 10 days per month (16 hours per day) and every 3rd weekend coverage.
