About The Position

Skilled Wound Care is hiring General Surgeons in Huntsville, Alabama, to provide wound care and lead wound care initiatives in skilled nursing facilities and other post-acute settings. The role offers clinical autonomy and a weekday schedule without nights, weekends, or call. Physicians use surgical skills in debridement and bedside procedures while evaluating and treating chronic, non-healing, and complex wounds. The position is available full-time or part-time. Full-time compensation is listed as $250,000–$500,000 annually, with uncapped earnings as an independent contractor; top performers may earn more than $500,000 through performance bonuses. Pay is per patient and per procedure, with quarterly bonus programs. Comprehensive wound care training is provided, and prior wound care experience is not required.

Requirements

MD or DO from an accredited institution.
Unrestricted/clear medical license in the state of practice, or eligibility to obtain one.
DEA license, or eligibility to obtain one.
No previous wound care experience is required; comprehensive wound care training is provided.
Candidates must complete confidential pre-employment DiSC testing and relevant skills testing.

Responsibilities

Perform surgical and sharp debridement and other bedside procedures.
Evaluate and treat chronic, non-healing, and complex wounds.
Use advanced dressings and specialized wound protocols.
Provide collaborative care in skilled nursing facilities and post-acute settings, following patients through healing.
Lead wound care initiatives in facilities across the area.
