About The Position

St. Mary's Hospital, a proud member of the Prime Healthcare network, is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible General Surgeon to join their growing surgical team in Kankakee, Illinois. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established hospital known for its commitment to compassionate care, clinical excellence, and community service. The ideal candidate will provide a full range of general surgical services, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency procedures, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and support staff.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution
  • Completion of an accredited General Surgery residency program
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery (ABMS or AOA)
  • Current and unrestricted Illinois medical license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
  • Current DEA registration
  • Excellent interpersonal, clinical, and communication skills
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in becoming a partner in a suburban practice
  • Interested in practicing a wide range of general surgical procedures, as well as working with and teaching surgery residents and medical students

Responsibilities

  • Staff a suburban acute care emergency room
  • Perform a case mix including bread and butter general surgery operations along with acute care surgery
  • Provide a broad range of elective general surgery, endoscopy, as well as urgent surgery
  • Be available for call with a 60-minute response time (in-house call not required)
