About The Position

St. Mary's Hospital, a proud member of the Prime Healthcare network, is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible General Surgeon to join our growing surgical team in Kankakee, Illinois. The ideal candidate will provide a full range of general surgical services, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency procedures, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and support staff.

Requirements

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution
Completion of an accredited General Surgery residency program
Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery (ABMS or AOA)
Current and unrestricted Illinois medical license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
Current DEA registration
Excellent interpersonal, clinical, and communication skills
Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care

Responsibilities

Provide a full range of general surgical services, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency procedures
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and support staff
Staff a suburban acute care emergency room
Perform bread and butter general surgery operations along with acute care surgery
Provide a broad range of elective general surgery, endoscopy, as well as urgent surgery
Be available for call with a 60-minute response time (in-house call not required)
Practice a wide range of general surgical procedures
Work with and teach surgery residents and medical students
