About The Position

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking a General Surgeon to join the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan. Requirements

  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.
  • Active and Unrestricted New York Medical License and DEA.

Nice To Haves

  • Robotic training is preferred, along with proficiency in laparoscopic and basic endoscopic techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a broad range of procedures, including laparoscopies/robotic surgery with appropriate training, GI endoscopies in collaboration with the GI Endoscopy service, hernia repairs, and soft tissue surgeries.
  • Manage the full perioperative cycle, including preoperative diagnosis, imaging interpretation, acute surgical intervention, and post-operative wound/pain management.
  • Provide reliable On Call coverage for the General Surgery service, managing acute conditions such as abdominal perforations and infections.
  • Partner with nursing staff and fellow physicians to ensure a seamless, evidence-based approach to patient health.
  • Educate and propagate information about the specialty to peers and learners in other departments in effort to provide collaborative care.
  • Actively teach and train house staff, residents, PA students, and medical students.
  • Contribute to staff conferences and participate in departmental scholarly activities as required.

Benefits

  • Annual Base Salary: $334,000 (board eligible); $340,000 (board certified) based on 40-hour work week.
  • Additional compensation available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours.
  • 401(k) Company Contribution: Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required. After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
