About The Position

The General Superintendent provides oversight and support to all distribution crews in a designated area, coordinating and executing day-to-day operations to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget. This role involves responding professionally and promptly to customer requests, including emergency call-outs, and escalating field issues to upper management. The General Superintendent is responsible for maintaining excellent customer relationships, actively participating in business development, and ensuring that company safety, quality, training, and standards are exceeded. They will monitor and report damages and claims, complete necessary paperwork, and coordinate fleet/equipment needs to maximize utilization. Additionally, this role involves active participation in the interview and hiring process to build a strong workforce, mentoring and developing employees, administering fleet policies, and ensuring compliance with numerous federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions.
  • Experience with providing leadership for Distribution Crews.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workers.
  • Ability to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policy.
  • English usage sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports.
  • Willingness and ability to learn additional skills.
  • Four (4+) plus years of management experience is required.
  • Eight (8+) plus years of construction experience is required.
  • Proven leadership skills, and excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills is required.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment.
  • Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and support to all distribution crews working in the designated area.
  • Coordinate and execute the day-to-day operations of the distribution crews under his/her supervision to ensure projects are completed on schedule and on budget.
  • Respond to all customer requests in a professional and timely manner including emergency call-outs.
  • Escalate field issues and anticipated work volumes to VP Ops in a timely manner.
  • Maintain excellent customer relationships with all clients and take active role in business development.
  • Ensure the safety, quality, training and standards of the company and each individual client are exceeded. Monitor and report damages and claims.
  • Complete all the necessary paperwork required by the company and clients.
  • Coordinate fleet/equipment needs and support services across crews to maximize utilization.
  • Takes an active role in the interview and hiring process to ensure SPS maintains a multi-functional, diversified, well-trained, motivated and empowered workforce.
  • Actively mentor and develop employees for the improvement of performance and preparation of additional responsibilities.
  • Administer compliance of fleet policies and procedures. Provides leadership to optimize vehicle utilization and minimize life cycle cost.
  • Ensure compliance with numerous federal, state and local laws, regulations codes and ordinances, e.g., Operator Qualification, Texas Department of Transportation (TDOT), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Public Utility Commission (PUC), and similar, to include in Operational Qualification (OQ) performance evaluations.
