About The Position

The City of Huntsville’s General Services department is seeking qualified applicants to fill our General Services HVAC Technician position. This is journey level commercial and industrial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning work performing maintenance, repair, and installation work on facilities and equipment. Work involves performing HVAC repair, maintenance, and installation work on buildings and machinery in City owned facilities, parks, and recreational buildings.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED certificate; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• A minimum of four years of work experience in the HVAC trade as a journeyman technician.
• Possession of journeymen level certification.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.
• Must pass the written portion of the CDL, Class B Endorsement test within six (6) months of hire and/or promotion date.
• Must pass the driving test and obtain a valid CDL, Class B Endorsement within eleven (11) months of hire and/or promotion date.
• May require possession of a Freon certification card approved by the Environmental Protection Agency depending on job assignments.

Responsibilities

• Performing maintenance, repair, and installation work on facilities and equipment.
• Performing HVAC repair, maintenance, and installation work on buildings and machinery in City owned facilities, parks, and recreational buildings.
• Participating in on-call emergency rotation.
