About The Position

The City of Huntsville’s General Services Department is seeking a General Services HVAC Technician. This is journey-level commercial and industrial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning work involving maintenance, repair, and installation at City-owned facilities. Work includes HVAC systems in buildings and machinery at City-owned facilities, parks, and recreational buildings. The position participates in an on-call emergency rotation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED certificate, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• A minimum of four years of work experience in the HVAC trade.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Environmental Protection Agency certification with the State of Alabama.
• Pass the written portion of the CDL, Class B Endorsement test within six months of hire and/or promotion.
• Pass the driving test and obtain a valid CDL, Class B Endorsement within eleven months of hire and/or promotion.
• Must participate in the on-call emergency rotation.

Responsibilities

• Perform HVAC maintenance, repair, and installation work on buildings and machinery in City-owned facilities, parks, and recreational buildings.
• Participate in an on-call emergency rotation.
