About The Position

At Space Coast Credit Union (SCCU), members are at the heart of its work, guided by a people-first philosophy and commitment to integrity. The Software Developer II designs, codes, and develops new financial applications and web-based systems, and modifies existing core financial applications and web-based systems. This position is a six-month contract-to-hire role. The developer supports internal and external core and web applications, services, and sites through development, integration, testing, maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting, and tier III support. The role also uses AI tools to assist with requirements analysis, implementation, code work, testing, documentation, security review, and troubleshooting; the developer remains responsible for validating all AI-generated output. The position offers flexible schedule options and on-the-job training, with career growth opportunities and an emphasis on internal promotions. The stated schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in software analysis, design, development, testing, debugging, integration, deployment, support, and documentation of core and web-based systems following the software development lifecycle, or a combination of applicable experience, education, and training that provides the needed knowledge and skills.
  • Skills and experience with .NET, React, JavaScript, CSS, jQuery, SASS, Bootstrap, and WCMS platforms.
  • Experience with Visual Studio, Azure DevOps Server, C#, SQL Server and/or other relational databases, and Node.js.
  • Experience with client-server concepts, object-oriented programming, web services, and Waterfall/Agile development methodologies.
  • A two-year college degree in Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related academic area, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to end-user trouble calls, resolve routine application software problems, assist with hardware issues remotely when possible, route non-routine questions, and track tickets in an incident management system for knowledge-base documentation or escalation.
  • Design, develop, test, and integrate moderately complex internal and external core and web applications, services, and sites, including maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting to meet business needs.
  • Assist in determining project costs and schedules using current and proven software engineering practices.
  • Provide tier III technical support for staff using internal and external core and web applications and systems.
  • Work with vendors, IT team members, users, and department managers to determine requirements for new or modified software and hardware.
  • Test hardware and software configurations for usability and proper function, including cross-browser functionality; develop web security safeguards and technologies; and meet assigned project deadlines and goals.
  • Review, analyze, and modify application systems, including encoding, testing, debugging, and documentation; analyze and resolve application-system problems and detect, diagnose, and report related issues.
  • Use AI to analyze requirements, identify gaps and questions, explore implementation approaches, generate or refactor code, explain existing code, and assist with troubleshooting.
  • Create effective AI prompts and context that communicate objectives, business and application context, technical requirements, constraints, coding standards, acceptance criteria, existing patterns, examples, and expected output formats.
  • Use iterative prompting and refine context rather than relying on a single AI response.
  • Use AI where appropriate to create or improve unit tests, test scenarios, edge cases, negative tests, documentation, code-review summaries, implementation checklists, deployment instructions, release notes, troubleshooting guidance, and knowledge articles.
  • Use AI to help identify security concerns, inappropriate dependencies, error-handling gaps, maintainability issues, missing tests, technical debt, and potential performance concerns.
  • Validate AI-generated code and content and ensure it is correct, secure, maintainable, properly tested, and aligned with organizational standards.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus an Employee Assistance Program.
  • 401(k) match of 5% and HSA match.
