About The Position

Big O General Service Technicians perform service and installation activities related to store products and services accurately and promptly. The position includes vehicle maintenance and tire services, handling merchandise, maintaining store facilities and appearance, and providing courteous customer service and sales support. Technicians safely operate customer vehicles with automatic and manual transmissions, complete required training, inform supervisors about maintenance problems or other issues, and assist with training new employees as needed. Employees must follow company and position-specific policies and procedures and may be assigned other duties.

Requirements

• Be at least 17 years old; parental consent is required for applicants who are 17.
• Ability to learn new concepts and use technical materials.
• Ability to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
• Ability to safely operate vehicles with automatic and manual transmissions.
• Ability to exchange accurate information with customers.
• Ability and willingness to work with hazardous materials.
• Ability to consistently work in outdoor weather conditions.
• Ability and willingness to comply with Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) regulations.
• Valid driver's license.
• Vision, hearing, speech, and ability to detect odors.
• Ability to move and position oneself to retrieve products and supplies from shelves, under counters, or inventory stacks weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Availability to work holidays, weekends, and after regular business hours as needed.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English to communicate accurately and effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
• Ability to meet company requirements, including successful pre-employment screenings.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to obtain a current Motor Vehicle Inspection license within six months of eligibility for Missouri-based stores.

Responsibilities

• Drain and change engine oil and oil filters; lubricate vehicles; install, rotate, and balance tires; properly torque wheels; check and fill fluids; and check and replace filters and lights.
• Unload tires, merchandise, and supplies from transport trucks and warehouse deliveries.
• Inspect disposed tires for adjustment and store or dispose of tires properly.
• Clean facilities, tools, and equipment, and stock shelves.
• Greet and thank customers consistently and courteously, providing fast and friendly customer service.
• Promote sales by explaining the benefits of services and products to customers.
• Perform sales duties according to company policy and procedure, including proper pricing, implementing promotions, suggestive selling, vendor check-in, and stocking merchandise.
• Maintain the internal and external store appearance to comply with Big O Tires standards.
• Safely operate customer vehicles with automatic and manual transmissions, moving vehicles to and away from service areas as needed.
• Complete daily Today’s Class Technician training and other required training on time.
• Keep the supervisor informed of maintenance problems and other issues needing attention.
• Assist with the proper training of new employees as needed.
• Follow company and position-specific policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned.
