About The Position

The General Sales Manager primary role is to assist the General Manager with overseeing and driving both people and financial success in variable operations. Our GSM's are expected to lead from the front lines, manage and oversee activities of variable operations. Must be a highly detailed process driven leader and be able to hold the staff accountable for results. Partner with the General Manager and meet with managers individually to develop monthly and annual goals and objectives, and to review actual performance. Hire, train, supervise and monitor performance of sales associates and managers (new, used and finance). Lead by example and ensure that the core values of the company are encompassed in behavior at all times.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Must possess a strong track record of superior results in a high volume dealership.
  • Excellent customer service (CSI) history.
  • 5-8 years of automotive experience preferred.
  • Proven track record and experience as a sales consultant, F&I Manager and Used or New Sales Manager required.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening (background and drug test).

Nice To Haves

  • Strong used car management skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the General Manager with overseeing and driving both people and financial success in variable operations.
  • Be a hands-on active manager that is involved in all aspects of the sales process.
  • Work with general manager, sales team, and finance management team to meet monthly new, used, and F&I objectives.
  • Assist with inventory management for both new and used car departments.
  • Track record of developing and mentoring sales consultants, F&I managers and other sales managers.
  • Be willing to and able to consistently work the sales desk and customers turn overs.
  • Manage and oversee activities of variable operations.
  • Be a highly detailed process driven leader and be able to hold the staff accountable for results.
  • Assist sales managers with ensuring volume commitments to the manufacturer are met.
  • Meet with managers individually to develop monthly and annual goals and objectives, and to review actual performance.
  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with lending institutions and manufacturer personnel.
  • Communicate management policies and procedures to all Team Members’ attitudes and build morale.
  • Hire, train, supervise and monitor performance of sales associates and managers (new, used and finance).
  • Motivate, reward, and train employees.
  • Responsible for making sure CIT list is resolved before deadlines.
  • Other duties to be determined by management.
