The primary purpose of this position is to develop, coordinate, direct, and administer the facility’s marketing and public relations programs and services. This role involves maintaining a current listing of all resident care employee phone numbers, and planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the facility’s public relations and marketing programs to maintain and increase census and provide the community with accurate information about the facility, its programs, and services. The position also requires developing and maintaining written policies and procedures that govern the release of information concerning residents, employees, and the facility in accordance with current privacy rules and regulations. The role assists department directors in developing and using marketing and public relations policies and procedures, and establishes rapport between departments to ensure all staff understand their role in these programs. Reviewing marketing and public relations policies annually and recommending updates as necessary, assisting in the development, implementation, and tracking of customer satisfaction surveys, and interpreting and communicating facility policies regarding information release to employees, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies are also key responsibilities. Ensuring all public materials are accurate and up to date, organizing and maintaining internal communications, scheduling and participating in departmental meetings related to marketing and public relations activities, and providing creative support for activity and social services departments are also part of the role. Maintaining positive relationships with families, residents, and community and civic leaders, participating in community and civic groups to promote facility engagement and charitable activities, and coordinating with news media to share positive developments, new programs, or promotions are essential. The position requires keeping the Administrator informed of media coverage or public information that could impact the facility. During emergencies, the role involves establishing a public relations area to ensure accurate and policy-compliant information release. Assisting in planning, conducting, and scheduling in-service training, orientation, and on-the-job training related to marketing and public relations, and creating and maintaining an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis throughout the facility are also expected. The role requires following ergonomics and safety policies related to lifting, repetitive tasks, and equipment use, and preparing and managing the departmental operating budget in collaboration with the Administrator. Serving on committees as directed by the Administrator and maintaining confidentiality of all resident information, including protected health information, are also duties. Interpreting and communicating resident rights to residents, families, and staff as appropriate is also a responsibility.
