GENERAL PRODUCTION -FABRICATION/HARVEST (26489)
About The Position
The General Production Operator works in the meat processing facility in fabrication or harvest. In fabrication, the operator pulls product from a moving conveyor belt using a small meat hook in the non-dominant hand, places it on a cutting board, and trims it to company specifications with a knife in the dominant hand. Tasks include removing bones, cutting meat into standard market cuts, and continually turning the product by hand. In harvest, the employee handles offal—meat products and organs from beef slaughter—trimming and preparing items for sale and placing finished products in storage.
Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry approximately 45 pounds.
- Ability to lower items approximately 600 to 1,200 times per day.
- Ability to push and pull.
- Ability to continually use both hands and arms at waist level and sometimes at or slightly above shoulder height.
- Ability to work in different temperatures.
Responsibilities
- Pull product from a moving conveyor belt using a small meat hook.
- Place product on a cutting board and trim it to company specifications.
- Remove bones and cut meat into standard cuts for market using a knife.
- Turn product by hand to ensure it is trimmed correctly.
- Trim and prepare offal, including meat products and beef organs, for sale or consumption.
- Place fully trimmed items in storage for sale.
