General Orthopedic Surgeon
About The Position
We are seeking a General Orthopedic Surgeon for a Locum Tenens position in Hazard, KY. This role involves both inpatient and outpatient services, providing supplemental coverage on an ongoing basis starting July 16, 2026. The position includes clinical duties and call responsibilities, with a schedule of 15 to 17 days per month. The call type is beeper with a 30-minute response time and a 50% callback rate. The patient volume is expected to be between 10-25 patients per day, with approximately 5 phone consults. The department has 99 beds and is a Trauma Level IV facility. Support staff includes 1 APP and 4 office staff. Procedures may include Arthroscopy, Below Knee Amputation (BKA), and Total Joint Replacement (knee, Hip). Hospital privileges are required. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance will be covered.
Requirements
- Active KY License or IMLC
- BC/BE in General Orthopedic Surgery
- BLS certification
- Hospital Privileges required
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical orthopedic surgery services.
- Participate in on-call duties, including beeper call with a 30-minute response time.
- Perform procedures such as Arthroscopy, BKA, and Total Joint Replacement (knee, Hip).
- Manage inpatient and outpatient orthopedic cases.
- Handle phone consults.
