Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join our team as a 2nd Shift General Manufacturing Manager 1 based out of Baltimore, MD. This role involves direct supervision of approximately 15-20 represented (union) and non-represented employees and processes in a Manufacturing environment. The manager will work independently across organizations, manage the use of consumables to achieve budget targets, assign and manage represented EMS Operators and/or Ceramic Material and Process Specialists to maximize efficiency and achieve target productive yields, implement process improvements to enhance affordability, quality, and schedule, and perform required SAP/MES transactions to manage Operators and/or M&P Specialists.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of professional experience in a Manufacturing, Production or Engineering environment; Master’s Degree with 3 years of experience in a Manufacturing, Production or Engineering environment; 9 years of work experience in a Manufacturing, Production or Engineering environment may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Experience with coaching and/or mentoring colleagues and/or teams
  • Experience with SAP/MES
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Level Security Clearance
  • U.S. citizenship required

  • Active U.S. Government Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, engineering, or other STEM area
  • Previous project or personnel management experience
  • Prior experience working in a represented (union) environment
  • Lean Manufacturing Experience
  • Technical and/or hands-on Military experience

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate the activities to plan, prepare, issue, and control production schedules, in conjunction with Material Requirements Planning, to meet production/delivery requirements
  • Oversees the status of work in process, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that equipment, materials, and services are available, as needed
  • Assign and manage staff to maximize efficiency and achieve schedule and target productive yields
  • Performs require SAP/MES transactions to manage personnel, planning and financials
  • Provides specific direction and training, as required
  • Ensures 5S practices within cell areas
  • Utilizes both internal and external resources, and coordinates cell and functional activities with quality assurance, manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, inventory control, transportation, etc.
