About The Position

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a 2nd Shift General Manufacturing Manager 1 based in Linthicum, Maryland, to supervise approximately 15–20 represented (union) employees and processes in the Assembly, Coating and Test (ACT) manufacturing environment. The manager works independently across organizations, manages consumables to meet budget targets, assigns and manages represented EMS Operators to maximize efficiency and productive yields, implements process improvements, and performs required SAP/MES transactions to manage Operators and/or M&P Specialists.

The role provides direction under management guidelines and general policies and oversees manufacturing operations to support efficient production, on-time delivery, budget adherence, and product quality. The manager leads the team through hiring, training, performance management, and employee development, while driving efficiency and helping employees reach their potential.

The position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship. Travel is 10% of the time; relocation assistance is not available.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of experience in a Manufacturing, Production, IT, or Engineering environment, or equivalent experience; alternatively, a master’s degree and at least 3 years of such experience; or a high school diploma/GED and at least 9 years of such experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• At least 1 year of experience leading and/or managing people and/or projects.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Level Security Clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

• Active DoD Secret Level Security Clearance.
• Experience with SAP/MES.
• Experience with ISO, 5S, continuous improvement (CI), and problem-solving methodologies.
• Prior experience working in a represented (union) environment.
