About The Position

The General Manager is a professional-level sales and management position responsible for inspiring the team, helping customers succeed, and growing the business with integrity. The role supports functions on both sides of the business and requires understanding of store systems, automotive systems, and parts, along with the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and provide project assistance for DIY customers. The General Manager develops and maintains Professional Customer relationships and grows related programs, achieves financial metrics, and maintains service and appearance standards. This is an exempt position requiring a minimum of 50–55 hours per week, excluding meal breaks. The average schedule is 5–6 days per week with 11-hour shifts, including rotating nights and weekends, and an hour for lunch. Additional hours may be required based on staffing, store conditions, sales targets, and other business demands. Schedules are based on business needs. The position is eligible for sales commission based on individual or store performance. The role is based at Store 1287 in Burlington, Vermont. The work is usually indoors, with occasional outdoor work in varying weather conditions, such as installing batteries and wiper blades. The employee may occasionally encounter moving mechanical parts, heights, toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical-shock risks, explosives, and vibration. Noise is usually moderate. The job involves predominantly walking or standing and may require lifting or moving up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally. The good-faith salary estimate is $63,100–$77,300. The rate offered depends on factors such as location, retail experience, automotive knowledge, education, leadership experience, relevant skills, and shift differential where applicable. Requirements

2–3 years of experience managing a team of 10–20 Team Members in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment.
Successful experience managing profitability, with demonstrated financial and business acumen.
High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Ability to communicate effectively, build strong relationships, and speak and write English.
Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel effectively.
Ability to calculate discounts, percentages, sales increases, and gross profit percentages.
Ability to review and analyze business reports, including profit and loss statements.
Ability to hold others accountable, inspect work quality, and provide inspiring feedback.
Ability to locate and stock parts; source parts through special orders, FDO, second sources, and other channels; and perform advanced parts lookup and sourcing.
Ability to execute and train project and product quality recommendations, store operational processes and procedures, DIY testing and diagnostic equipment, inventory systems, store equipment, POS systems, and parts lookup systems.
Ability to recruit, select, hire, and develop quality Team Members and build and grow relationships with Professional Customers.
Ability to become ASE P2 certified or attain an ASE-ready equivalent.
Ability to perform the physical demands of the job, including frequent lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting or moving of up to 100 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Achieve overall store sales goals and service objectives.
Manage and grow Professional Customer relationships and sales, including developing and holding the team accountable for executing Customer action plans.
Select, hire, develop, manage performance, coach, schedule, and engage store Team Members.
Ensure execution of inventory and operational standards.
Coach Team Members to meet Customer expectations for both DIY and Professional customers.
Handle manager-on-duty responsibilities, including touch bases and coaching, floor and phone management, task assignment and completion, safety, and opening and closing duties.
Lead change management.
Embrace diversity and foster a respectful environment for Customers and Team Members.
Provide DIY services such as battery installation and testing and wiper installation.
Assist the District or Region with other functions upon request.
