About The Position

Copart, Inc. is a global technology leader and the premier online vehicle auction platform, with over 200 facilities worldwide. Copart connects vehicle sellers with over 750,000 buyers in more than 190 countries. The General Manager is responsible for the overall Planning, Organizing, Leading, and Controlling (P-O-L-C) functions of the facility. This role involves managing all aspects of the P-O-L-C framework to ensure the facility and staff meet budget, revenue, and customer satisfaction standards. The General Manager will foster a customer-first environment by understanding Copart policies and practices, offering unique solutions, and maintaining company standards for policy, quality, and service.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years as a manager, military or other relevant experience preferred.
  • Proven track record of driving and achieving operational excellence and execution of corporate goals.
  • Metric Driven.
  • Proven track record on supporting change initiatives and ensuring the team can easily adapt to, and manage the change effectively and with positivity.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to adjust tone/communication style according to audience.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Strong critical thinking skills using logic to help identify alternative solutions to operational issues.
  • Strong decision-making skills -- will consider benefits and risks to potential decisions to choose the most appropriate course of action.
  • Strong listening skills -- takes the time to actively listen to issues or concerns to help develop and execute on the solution.
  • Able to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet new deadlines or productivity goals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Able to multi-task and stay positive and motivated with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with HR to attract, recruit, develop and retain a diverse, high performing team.
  • Train and develop staff to meet company guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensure continual, positive communication and feedback with staff, including timely delivery of annual Continuous Improvement Summaries (CIS -- Reviews).
  • Manage the team through an innovative, creative, inspirational leadership style.
  • Hold staff consistently accountable with unbiased fairness to help drive performance.
  • Create a highly engaged team environment that drives execution, innovation, productivity, and future leaders.
  • Maintain a high level of integrity in all interactions and decision making.
  • Proactively manage the performance of managers and staff to address opportunities quickly and take appropriate action.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the facility, becoming a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all process areas.
  • Recruit and maintain an appropriate number of sub-haulers to manage logistical requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with System Quality Reviews, Field Quality Reviews, and Equipment and Safety Reviews.
  • Immediately raise any concerns that could negatively impact the facility, employees, or customers to the Regional Manager.
  • Set goals and ensure employees leverage provided tools for continual success.
  • Ensure locations are compliant with county, state, EPA, OSHA, and Department of Motor Vehicle regulations.
  • Disseminate pertinent knowledge throughout the location to ensure transparency and clarity on company goals and initiatives.
  • Responsible for customer relationships (buyers, sellers, and internal customers).
  • Identify knowledge and skill gaps amongst the team and ensure remedies are in place.
  • Act as a brand ambassador of the company's mission, vision, values, and culture.
  • Communicate to all levels of leadership throughout the organization with tact and professionalism, both written and verbal.
  • May be called upon to support local or non-local CAT events.
  • Understand the assigned profit and loss statement, identifying ways to increase revenue and decrease costs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Regional Manager or upper Management.
