About The Position

B. F. Saul Company Hospitality Group is seeking an accomplished General Manager to oversee the daily operations at their Hampton Inn Dulles Cascades hotel located in Sterling, Virginia. This position is responsible for the overall management and operation of the hotel, using leadership skills to drive revenue, maximize profit, and ensure quality. The role involves effective management of assigned staff to ensure the achievement of overall financial results, guest satisfaction, and positive team member relations. B. F. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • College degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 3-5+ years of progressive hotel GM management experience required.
  • Must be able to manage multiple hotel and corporate priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels within and outside the organization.
  • Must have the ability to effectively problem-solve with all.

Responsibilities

  • Personally Delivers Exceptional Guest Service: Accountable for maintaining high service and quality standards according to brand, including Quality Assurance Inspections and Guest Satisfaction Surveys. Communicates guest feedback to hotel staff and addresses trends/issues. Encourages and collaborates with the hotel team to set an example of expected guest service. Follows up on all guest inquiries, issues, and concerns in a timely and effective manner.
  • Sales: Actively participates in the hotel’s sales efforts, analyzes and negotiates business, determines pricing and yield strategies, and attends sales calls/site visits. Maintains a positive presence within the community by attending meetings and events, establishing relationships with local organizations. Responsible for maintaining accurate weekly, monthly, and annual budgets, forecasts, and business plans in collaboration with the sales team. Works with the Revenue Manager and Sales Team to implement sales strategies and a business mix to ensure maximum revenue potential. Provides direction to the operations team to meet the service and quality needs of negotiated accounts and groups.
  • Maximizes Guest Satisfaction Scores: Identifies potential obstacles to exemplary service and implements ideas to maximize guest satisfaction scores. Communicates survey results with the hotel team and addresses identified needs and trends. Responds to guest concerns from surveys when necessary. Works with the hotel team to maintain guest satisfaction scores within the brand's acceptable range.
  • Financial Responsibility: Manages expenses according to budgeted/forecasted guidelines to maximize hotel profitability. Reviews and releases payroll, ensuring effective labor management. Utilizes the B. F. Saul Company Hospitality Group procurement system and adheres to the approved vendor network. Responsible for the preparation and management of the hotel budget and ongoing forecasting. Communicates financial forecasts via weekly reporting and critiques month-end financial results. Shares revenue forecasts with the leadership team to adjust departmental expenses. Reviews A/R and A/P, emphasizing adherence to accounting procedures. Manages and maintains company assets within budget guidelines.
  • Training and Development: Assists with the ongoing training and development of hotel team members and maintains training records. Ensures the new hire training process effectively prepares new team members. Analyzes and adjusts current training programs as needed. Implements new B. F. Saul Company Hospitality Group and brand training initiatives. Utilizes training resources effectively and ensures all training requirements are met.
  • People Management: Responsible for interviewing, hiring, coaching, and developing hotel team members and the management team. Prepares and conducts annual team member reviews. Addresses performance issues and takes appropriate corrective action. Motivates hotel staff by setting goals, providing feedback, and recognizing team members. Addresses areas for improvement identified by the annual Team Member Opinion Survey. Ensures annual team member turnover falls within acceptable guidelines.
  • Self/Workload Management: Responsible for effective self/workload management and adjusting work schedules based on business needs. Provides guidance and assistance to the hotel team members and leadership team. Demonstrates clear written and verbal skills. Promotes a productive, professional, and collaborative work environment. Leads daily team meetings and weekly/monthly departmental/hotel meetings.
  • Safety/Risk Management: Leads and participates in monthly Safety Committee Meetings. Assists in conducting routine inspections of the hotel operation/building to maintain standards. Ensures a clean and safe work environment. Handles guest and team member accidents/incidents in a timely and effective manner, following company policy. Completes incident reports and follows up appropriately. Assists in promoting corporate safety programs and initiatives.
