About The Position

The Works Café is seeking an experienced and energetic food service professional to join their management team in Hanover, NH. The General Manager will be responsible for all aspects of café operations in one location, focusing on sales growth, customer service, and team building. This role involves connecting with both customers and staff to foster a community-conscious café environment. The General Manager reports to their Multi-Unit Manager and oversees the Assistant Manager, Shift Leaders, and all store personnel. The ideal candidate is hard-working, driven, leads by example, and is ready to contribute wherever needed. They should be able to inspire others to meet strategic goals while advocating for their team's needs and nurturing talent to retain employees and develop future leaders.

Requirements

  • Must care much more about the health and well-being of their team members, customers, and communities than the average manager
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Must have weekend availability
  • Must have an unusually strong passion for delighting customers
  • Able to stand and walk for periods of 8 to 10 hours each shift
  • Able to reach, bend, balance, and transport objects repeatedly during a shift

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and hire talented individuals to fulfill staffing needs
  • Train, mentor, and motivate assistant store manager and shift supervisors
  • Think strategically in ways that will help build the café’s profit, strengthen the company culture, improve customer service, food quality, and team members’ morale
  • Office and administrative tasks such as ordering supplies, scheduling staff and more
