About The Position

Accucare is a family-owned home medical equipment provider in Asheville, NC, specializing in respiratory care, sleep therapy, oxygen systems, DME, orthotics, and related supplies. They are seeking an experienced General Manager to oversee daily business operations, drive operational excellence, and serve as Compliance Officer and Performance Improvement Coordinator. This leadership role has a direct impact on patient care quality, team development, and company growth. The General Manager will shape the culture, systems, and results of a company dedicated to helping patients, especially those with complex respiratory needs, live healthier, more independent lives at home. The role involves working closely with the Owner, leading a multidisciplinary team, and having the authority to improve processes, develop people, and strengthen compliance and service standards.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to organize, plan, and lead teams
  • Judgment to make timely, sound decisions
  • Experience in the home medical equipment, respiratory, or related healthcare services industry
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Track record of maintaining accurate records and processes
  • Solid computer proficiency (spreadsheets, word processing, internet research and tools)

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, develop, and direct the team (Payroll/Admin, Purchasing, Customer Care, Billing, Sales & Marketing, Respiratory Care, and DME Technicians)
  • Build and run internal systems that measure, assess, and continuously improve company performance
  • Ensure consistently high-quality patient service and operational excellence
  • Lead regular supervisor meetings, conduct annual performance evaluations, and set clear goals with follow-through
  • Partner with the Owner to develop the annual budget and actively manage expenses
  • Serve as Compliance Officer and Performance Improvement Coordinator—maintain full regulatory and accreditation compliance, implement best practices, and participate in surveys and inspections
  • Delegate effectively while remaining accountable for results
  • Contribute to company committees, in-service education, and your own continuing professional development
