About The Position

Accucare is a trusted, family-owned home medical equipment provider based in Asheville, NC, serving 20 counties across Western North Carolina. For nearly two decades we have specialized in respiratory care (including hard-to-find infant and pediatric solutions), sleep therapy, oxygen systems, DME, orthotics, and related supplies. We are ACHC-accredited and known for compassionate, high-touch service that patients and referral partners count on. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on General Manager to own the day-to-day performance of the business, drive operational excellence, and serve as Compliance Officer and Performance Improvement Coordinator. This is a visible leadership role with direct impact on patient care quality, team development, and company growth—right here in Asheville. You will shape the culture, systems, and results of a local company that makes a real difference in patients’ lives—especially the most vulnerable (infants, children, and adults with complex respiratory needs). You will work closely with the Owner while leading a multidisciplinary team and having the authority to improve processes, develop people, and strengthen compliance and service standards.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to organize, plan, and lead teams—plus the judgment to make timely, sound decisions
  • Experience in the home medical equipment, respiratory, or related healthcare services industry
  • Strong organizational skills and a track record of maintaining accurate records and processes
  • Solid computer proficiency (spreadsheets, word processing, internet research and tools)
  • A leadership style that balances accountability with development and high standards of patient care

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, develop, and direct the team (Payroll/Admin, Purchasing, Customer Care, Billing, Sales & Marketing, Respiratory Care, and DME Technicians)
  • Build and run internal systems that measure, assess, and continuously improve company performance
  • Ensure consistently high-quality patient service and operational excellence
  • Lead regular supervisor meetings, conduct annual performance evaluations, and set clear goals with follow-through
  • Partner with the Owner to develop the annual budget and actively manage expenses
  • Serve as Compliance Officer and Performance Improvement Coordinator—maintain full regulatory and accreditation compliance, implement best practices, and participate in surveys and inspections
  • Delegate effectively while remaining accountable for results
  • Contribute to company committees, in-service education, and your own continuing professional development
